Day #1

Oh, first day of complete and total laziness, I think I love you. This day also happens to coordinate with by birthday so the hubby treated me to a tasty breakfast and I got to open gifts. Mmmm. Gifts.

Now I am parked on the couch, watching Regis and Kelly. Regis is on vacation so Emeril is guest hosting. Kelly has talked about her house in the Hamptons and Emeril has expoused the benefits of local farmer's markets. I am joining the masses of stay-at-home moms/the unemployed/others and the wacky world of daytime television. My grand plans for the rest of the day are to be completely and totally indulgent. (Okay, I couldn't help but put a load of laundry in....) This will include napping, ice cream, reading silly magazines, play with the dogs and perhaps lounging in bath tub.

My renewed positivity towards this final stage of being preggo is due to a very positive report from the doctor. Yesterday, I found out that I am 60% effaced. Effacement refers to this wacky process where my cervix shortens and softens. Then there is dialation, or the opening of the cervix to an obscene size to push the baby out. So. Things are moving and moving in the right direction. My midwife estimated delivery in 1 to 1 1/2 weeks or "any moment." Knowing that this will not go on forever definitely makes me want to lounge and watch Regis and Kelly more often.
