As I shared before, my best friend, Em, was pregnant. She isn't pregnant anymore because she is a freakin' mom. Its unbelievable! Samson Harold Gelber was born on Friday and, as you can tell from the picture, he is a little bitty tiny thing.Em's due date was March 19. I had tried all week to not pick up the phone and barrage her with questions related to her impending/current/past labor. I couldn't wait any longer and on Friday afternoon I called. Oddly enough, she had just given birth that morning. I did what every normal friend would do: I screamed and swooned and sighed and screamed some more. She sounded great...so super happy. She then had to go as the hospital just delivered a meal and I couldn't deprive her of some well-earned hospital food.
HURRAHHH for Samson!

I was just going to ask you how she was doing! Yay! Healthy babies! Are you going to go visit her? Is this her first baby? Yays all around.
yupper, its her first. i dunno if i am going to visit...my brain hasn't processed much beyond "HURRAH!". are the kooky rules around how long you are supposed to wait until you go and visit? (there seem to be 'rules' around this kind of stuff). hmmm.
When would you want your best friend to come visit you? I would be like "Get out here NOW and help me!" if I had just had a baby, but, you know, to each her own. Hmmm... what will the rules be for you and Hubby? Christ, if we all came out for one weekend each, you'd have visitors for like seven months straight. You'd better lay down some rules yourself, Lady.
i've been told that you just play it by ear 'cause its impossible to know how everything will go. so you may want people ASAP or need a few weeks to get settled and heal. the mother-in-law wants to stay "for weeks." gulp. helpers sound wonderful...those wishing to gawk at me attempting to learn how to breastfeed could make things weird.
I love you, you have a beautiful figure, but I have no interest in watching you breastfeed. Hi, weird. I will rake leaves or wash dishes or distract your mother in law instead. You just call me, chica. Only five hours away.
