Vietnam 2007: Departure

Its the night before our departure and I am finally in the zone: The Vacation Zone. It took me a bit longer to decompress but I am finally ready.

This weekend, Jamin and her boy came up from Denver. There was little sobriety and lots and lots of fun. On Monday, my first official day off, I ran errands while rockin' out to the radio and got all of the Xmas gifts wrapped and packaged for delivery. It was Tuesday, however, when I really splurged. After about 3 years of lamenting how horrible I am at skiing and, more recently, being surrounded by confident, 'pretty,' skiers and riders, I took a lesson. There is nothing like paying for a group lesson and getting a private one. It was a blustery day and my instructor, Carolyn, gave me a thorough assessment and then filled me up with all sorts of fun analogies to improve my skiing. Deeeelightful. "Hold your arms like you are carrying two large grocery bags," "Pretend there is a string around your torso." I heart analogies. Today, I went up again. Skiing properly is really a lot of work. My thighs, which traditionally have been along for the ride, were screaming because I was actually using them. Novel. Of course now I leave for two weeks but hopefully all of Carolyn's tips will remain with me.

As for Vietnam, I sit here home alone waiting for the hubby to arrive. ( This is the longest I've been online in 5 days and I really truly believe I spend too much of my life in front of a computer...sounds like a New Year's resolution, huh?) I believe he is in the shit-i-am-leaving-work-for-a-long-time stress zone as when I called he was particularly snappy. Ick. We need to pack but I've soaked in the tub and read my book so I am okay. Forecast: 70 degrees with 78% humidity. My only annoyance is that Aunt Flow will arrive in Vietnam. So the massive amounts of sex I've been planning on having will have to take a backseat for some of the trip. Oof. I've been willing myself to have an early period but I don't think it works that way. Oh well.

Okay, blogger-folk. Happy holidays, merry christmas, yeah Kwanza etc. etc.! I am O.U.T.!!
