Dancing with WHO?

Helio Castroneves won this season's Dancing with the Stars. Who the hell is Helio?! EXACTLY!

The final three contestants of the competition were:
Marie Osmond: Old women who got far in the competition because freakish doll collectors from across the country kept voting for her. BOO.
Helio Castroneves: A short little racecar driver who made a 'Barbie and Ken' couple with his annoying, petitie and blond profesisonal dancing partner. BOO.
Melanie Brown: AKA Scary Spice and one badass chica. YIPPEE!

First, we must rejoice because Marie Osmond did not win. HA! Take that you doll collectors. But the WHY THE HELL DIDN'T MEL WIN? What crazy people out in t.v. land kept voting for the short racecar driver?

And, yes. I watched the entire 2-hour finale to see for myself how this would turn out. And, yes. I managed to make the Hubby watch it with me. A cocktail and promises of other exciting things to come helped.

I was a Mel fan from the beginning as I have fond memories of the Spice Girls. I remember dancing through my freshman year dorm singing "Wanna Be" and triumphantly going to the preview of the Spice Girls movie (it totally sucked but was a memorable afternoon). In the beginning episodes of Dancing they played up her 'Scary Spice' role quite a bit. However, it was soon obvious that Mel a) has a phenomenal laugh and a great sense of humor b) is both strong and elegant without being a waifishly annoying model or dumb blond c) took the competition seriously but didn't get outta control and d) truly seemed to make a good partner with Maksim Chmerkovskiy (her professional dancing coach and partner).
