Perspectives

Do you ever have those moments when the clouds of angst, stress and annoyance clear and you get a heavy dose of perspective:
Perspective 1: I survived kayaking. And I even managed to have fun. Granted, I almost puked because I was so anxious and had a massive case of the nervous shits both mornings (sorry, TMI, I know), but I DID IT. The cowboy's girlfriend stole my show and was officially the most nervous class participant. She got special treatment - one of the instructors walked (or I should say 'kayaked') her through a lot of the exercises. I employed my I-will-be-very-serious-and-concentrate + Lamaze deep-breathing technique. But, seriously. How many people in this world ever get to try kayaking let alone survive it?!
Perspective 2: The relationship with the hubby is a very good thing. I definitely am guilty way too often of taking the hubby for granted. His commitment to always working on our relationship (e.g. talking about our feelings rather than bottle them up), can be exhausting but it is an absolute blessing. He tolerates my neurosis like no one every has and, while he is definitely slightly crazy, he makes life fun.
Perspective 3: Work is work. Work is work. Work is work. Sorry. This is a mantra that needs to be frequently repeated. I am employed. I am employed in a manner that fundamentally allows me to do what I love and get some money and some benefits. This is all very good.
Perspective 4: Crazy friends are the best friends. Lots of crazy friends are even better because they not only add spunk and zest to your day, but give you perspective on lots of other aspects of your life.
Perspective 5: Rabid conservatives are destroying our country and our democracy. But, we still have elections and there is always Canada! (okay, still not feeling to warm & fuzzy on that one)
